We are a group of writers, who meet FOR writers, in the historic English city of York.
Our members range from aspiring novelists and many-times-published writers of short stories and poetry, to those just getting started as writers. We aim to provide encouragement, support and assistance for writers at all levels to improve their craft, to get published, and to get satisfaction and pleasure from what they write.
We are interested in all forms of writing: fiction and non-fiction, poetry and scripts, novels and short stories, for both adults and children.
Where to find us
York Writers is currently meeting on the first Wednesday of every month in the upstairs room of the Yorkshire Terrier pub on Stonegate, York. Meetings start at 8 pm and usually finish around 10 pm. There is no charge for admission.
Please note that York Writers currently has no functioning committee and no activity programme. The group is in a "caretaker" phase being looked after by some of our long standing members. Meetings are focused on a sharing of creative work - please feel free to come and bring your own original creative writing, or come and listen to like-minded individuals and talk about the experience of writing and being a writer.
